New Computer

July 26th, 2009 Rich Comments off

I finally ordered the new computer on Friday.  No confirmation of expected delivery date yet, but this won’t be my main rig until Windows 7 is here, so there’s no rush.

Specs include an i7 (920) processor, 9Gb of RAM, 512Mb graphics card and 1Tb hard drive.  With these specs I am expecting to overcome issues of extensive sample use that really take their toll on my current machine.  Hopefully, I’ll be getting a lot more than two instances of guitar rig out of it too!  The machine has a large case that will fit my hard drives better than my current machine, and also has lots of opportunity for expansion. My current machine will remain with Windows XP, and run just a few plugins that won’t be Windows 7 compatible.

I’ll capture the grand unboxing on video when it arrives!

Chris Kirby had the release of his latest CD, Vampire Hotel, in Toronto last Friday night, July 24th.  Rich played trumpet on several tracks alongside horn players Susan Evoy, Chris Harnett and John Duff. This is one funky CD!

Next Saturday, August 1st, Jason Noble sees the release of his book The Stupendous Adventure of Gregory Green.  Rich was the engineer for the CD that accompanies the book featuring a small orchestra and the incredible voice of Gordon Pinsent narrating.
