Rich’s Bio
Rich is a native of Bristol, England, where he studied trumpet and music technology while holding down a job as an insurance administrator. A move to Newfoundland, Canada in 1999 turned life upside down, and made music his main focus. He currently works as a Music Technologist at Memorial University of Newfoundland’s School of Music. He has a diploma in Music for the Media and runs StudioBee Music for all his non-university music making.

Rich has been on all sides of music production, recording albums as a trumpet player with Funky Dory (Fists of Funk), Chris Kirby and the Marquee (Rum and Religion and Vampire Hotel) and Hey Rosetta! (Into Your Lungs), and playing lead and second trumpet parts in the pit orchestra for many stage shows with Tada Events and Beothuck Street Players, including Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Gypsy and Chicago. He performed lead and second trumpet parts in the orchestra for TaDa Events annual “Diva’s” show for five years and has occasionally performed on the Music at Memorial Concert Series with faculty performers Paul Bendzsa and Rob Power. Other notable performances include those with the Newfoundland Symphony/Pops Orchestra, Jazz East Big Band, Jazz Express Big Band, Memorial University Jazz Ensemble, Kelly-Ann Evans Band, Billy and the Bruisers and Traces Dance Band. Due to the impossible demands on practice time, Rich has hung up the trumpet in favour of his electronic wind instrument (EWI). The horn is still around waiting for Rich to retire!
On the audio production side, credits include recording engineer, virtual orchestrator, composer, editor, mix engineer, sound designer , co-producer and mastering engineer.
Rich lives with his wife Kelly and beagle Jack, in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
